What items are not permitted at SiliCon with Adam Savage?

The following items are strictly prohibited at SiliCon:

  •       Stilts
  •       Weapons (Please see our Weapons Policy for more info: https://www.siliconsj.com/cosplay-central-2/
  •       Drones / UAV’s
  •       Illegal Substances
  •       Stickers / Adhesive Graphics (Keep them in your bags/pockets and off the walls/floors of the Event Facilities)
  •       Signs/flags, if they are attached to a pole of any length and are used to solicit or incite any response. All other signs/flags are permitted.
  •       Non-Service Live Animals.
  •       Helium and Mylar Balloons
  •       Lasers or Similar Items
  •       Coolers
  •       Oversized Backpacks / Bags: No bags over the airplane carry-on size are permitted. As a point of reference, the size limit for a standard airplane carry-on is 22 x 14 x 9 inches. All bags, regardless of size, are subject to inspection at any time.
  •       Motorized Vehicles (i.e. go-karts or kids’ battery-operated vehicles.)
  •       Wheeled Carts / Wagons
  •       Confetti / Loose Glitter (Glitter used on your costumes is OK)
  •       Flammable Liquids
  •       Open-Flame Use
I lost my badge. What do I do?

If you lost your badge, head over to Registration.  Any lost badges that are found will be turned in at Registration and will require photo ID verification. If you would like to replace your badge, you will be subject to a reprint fee, depending on the badge type. Your old badge will then be deactivated.

Can I bring food and drinks in the San Jose Convention Hall?

Per the rules and regulations of the San Jose Convention Center, no outside food or beverages may be brought in to the convention center. There are onsite restaurants and food vendors available. We highly recommend you bring refillable water bottles with you to stay hydrated. There are numerous places throughout the convention center to fill them.

What time does the show start and end?

SiliCon hours are:

Saturday, August 27th: 9:30 am for all VIP ticket holders. 10:00 am for general admission. Doors close at 7:00pm

Sunday, August 28th: 9:30 am for all VIP ticket holders. 10:00 am for general admission. Doors close at 5:00pm

Do I need to show proof of vaccination?
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Proof or Negative COVID-19 Test: Based on CDC guidelines, there are no current requirements in place for providing proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test, and because of this, we have amended our policy to remove onsite testing and/or proof of vaccination.
    However, this does not mean we are less concerned about your health and safety. If you plan to attend SiliCon, we recommend testing yourself before arriving if you have not been vaccinated. Please do not attend the convention if you are not feeling well or have any cold-like symptoms. Masks will not be required, but we do strongly recommend wearing one.
  • Masks: Masks will not be required indoors as of 7/19/22. Policy is subject to change.

Where are the panel lines located?

Panel lines are located outside of the panel room in which the panel is taking place.

I have lost/found an item. Where do I go?

Check-in at the Information desk outside of the Exhibitor Hall (Hall 1).

What is a Quiet Room/Safe Space?

A quiet room is for those who might need a respite from the noise and the crowds. Our quiet room is  212B.

Are there cell phone charging stations?

The San Jose Convention Center does not have dedicated charging stations.

Where do I go for first aid?

Contact any security guard team member, or go to the information booth immediate outside of the Exhibitor Hall (Hall 1).

Are there nursing/breastfeeding stations?

Yes, you can find a nursing station in Room 2112B.

Are strollers permitted?

Yes, strollers are permitted. Wagons, however are not.  We also do not have a designated stroller parking area.

Do I need a badge for my child?

If your child is under the age of 6, there is no charge to attend SiliCon. 

If your child is between the ages of 7-12, there is no charge if you have purchased the Family Fun Pack which includes 2 adult and 2 children under the age of 12.  If you don’t purchase that limited time offer ticket package, please purchase a pass. 

1 or 2 day tickets are available. 

If your child is over the age of 12 but below the age of 18, you will need to purchase a ticket for them. 

 

What payment methods are accepted for online registration?

We accept all major credit or debit cards.

I purchased a ticket but now I want a refund. What do I do?

 We do not offer refunds once a ticket is purchased, but you can roll it into next year

What payment methods do you accept for onsite purchases?

On-site purchases are cash only. If you would like to use a credit card, please purchase your ticket in advance.

What do I need to pick up my badge on-site?

QR Code confirmation (e.g. email printout, pdf/screenshot via your phone, or mobile app)

  •     Valid, government-issued photo ID
  •     If you are under 18, please bring your parent or legal guardian with you to pick up your badge. If you are 12 and under, the adult present when you pick up your badge must also have purchased a badge and accompany you for the duration of the event.
  • NOTE: Each registered attendee must pick up his/her own badge.
When can I pick up/buy my badges on-site?

You can pick up or buy your badge anytime registration is open. 

                        Saturday: 10:00am-7:00pm

                        Sunday: 10:00 am-5:00pm

Can someone else pick up my badge for me?

With the exception of children, each registered attendee must pick up their own badge.

Where do I go to pick up/buy my badge?

Badge pick-up and badge purchase is located in the back of the main floor after you pass through the front doors.

Who do I contact if I have a question about booking a hotel room at SiliCon?

What is the room cancelation policy?

The Marriott has confirmed a 48-hour cancellation policy for full reimbursement.

How do I get my prop weapon checked/approved?

Weapons check will be located in a tent in the main courtyard outside the convention center. Weapons will be inspected and checked prior to entering the convention center. If a weapon is deemed unsafe, it will be held at weapons check until you leave the venue.

Are there size or weight limitations to weapons?

Yes. Props or prop weapons cannot be more than 7 feet (2.13 meters) in length or more than 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms).

What kind of weapons can I bring in to SiliCon?

Can I walk around barefoot?

No, shoes are required at all times.

Are there any requirements or restrictions when cosplaying?

No costumes may be realistic depictions of American law enforcement, current American military uniforms, first responders, emergency medical personnel, or any official government agent. “Vintage,” historical, any non-current uniforms, and any military or police-style costumes may be addressed at the convention’s discretion (i.e., Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, etc.)

Can I wear a military or police officer costume?

No costumes may be realistic depictions of American law enforcement, current American military uniforms, first responders, emergency medical personnel, or any official government agent. “Vintage,” historical, any non-current uniforms, and any military or police-style costumes may be addressed at the convention’s discretion (i.e., Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, etc.)

Are there size restrictions for bulky or oversize costumes?

Costumes must fit through a standard doorway and cannot impede traffic or block walkways. If your costume is bulky, obscures your vision, or has extensions (e.g. tails or wings), you should have a designated “handler” to help you navigate the event.
